27.06.2012

No. 188–E

On Tuesday, 26 June, Minister of Culture Rein Lang and Ambassador in Vienna Eve-Külli Kala opened Estonia’s fifth honorary consulate in Austria. The new honorary consulate is located in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. Estonia’s new honorary consul is lawyer Hubert Tramposch.

At the opening of the honorary consulate, Estonian Ambassador Eve-Külli Kala said that with the addition of Hubert Tramposch, the reputable network of Estonia’s honorary consuls has gained another worthy member. Estonia now has a good friend and co-operation partner in the states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg who can provide support for creating closer business and cultural ties with both federal states. Minister of Culture Rein Lang said that it is not by chance that well-known Estonian musicians Olav Ehala and Lembit Saarsalu were present to perform their songs at the opening of the honorary consulate. Estonia and Austria, both countries with a rich cultural heritage, plan to initiate stronger cultural ties with the help of the new honorary consul.

Prior to the opening of the honorary consulate a meeting was held with Governor of Tyrol Günther Platter, Mayor of Innsbruck Christine Oppitz-Plörer, and member of the state government and Minister of Culture of Tyrol Beate Palfrader. Opportunities to develop co-operation in order to strengthen bilateral cultural and business ties were discussed at the meeting.

Also participating in the opening of the honorary consulate were entrepreneurs from companies in the federal states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, science and cultural figures, and representatives of the local government and the consular corps. The honorary consulate in Innsbruck, which covers the states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, is the fifth Estonian honorary consulate in Austria, in addition to the ones in Vienna, Salzburg, Graz, and Linz.

The honorary consulate is located at the address Tramposch & Partner, Franz – Fischer – Str. 17a, A-6020 Innsbruck. The honorary consul can be reached by phone at +435 1257 1757 or by fax at +435 1258 7159; emails can be sent to the address hubert.tramposch@mfa.ee.

Hubert Tramposch is the owner of a law firm. He was born in Innsbruck in 1953. After defending his doctoral thesis, he opened his own law firm in 1984. He has two daughters and speaks German, English, and Italian.
