Foreign Minister Urmas Paet to discuss the situation in Ukraine and relations with other EU Eastern Partnership countries at meeting with EU foreign ministers

Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet is taking part in a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Brussels on February 10. The foreign minister will also sign an agreement with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs regarding Latvian diplomats working on the premises of the Estonian Embassy in New Delhi.

During the meeting, the EU foreign ministers will discuss the situation in Ukraine and solving the domestic policy crisis with help from the EU. They will also discuss the EU’s relations with other Eastern Partnership countries. “It is important to sign EU association agreements with Georgia and Moldova as soon as possible,” Paet said. “And visa freedom with Moldova must take effect this year,” he added.

The EU foreign ministers will also talk about the EU mission in the Central African Republic and the latest events in Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, as well as developments in Yemen and Iraq.
