NATO Secretary General to visit Estonia next week


NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will visit Estonia on May 8 and 9 to talk about the changed security situation in Europe.

According to Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, the NATO Secretary General's visit to Estonia is very significant. “This is a confirmation of NATO’s commitment to ensuring its member states' security and is a sign of the close cooperation between Estonia and our NATO allies," he said.

NATO Secretary General Rasmussen will meet with Foreign Minister Urmas Paet in Tallinn on Thursday. The NATO Secretary General also has meetings scheduled with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas.

On Friday Rasmussen will give a public lecture at Tallinn University and visit Ämari air base with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet.
