Estonia and Vietnam signed a double taxation agreement

29.09.2015

Meeting in New York, Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand and Foreign Minister of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh signed an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between the two countries and discussed possibilities for intensifying bilateral relations.

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic countries within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). “There are a lot of unused opportunities in our countries’ bilateral economic relations. We hope that signing this agreement will contribute to intensifying contacts between Estonian and Vietnamese entrepreneurs,” Foreign Minister Kaljurand said. The Foreign Ministers also discussed possibilities for cooperation in the field of ICT.

They also spoke about cooperation in international organizations and the possibilities of mutually supporting each other's candidacies. Estonia and Vietnam are both candidates for the UN Security Council for the period 2020-2021.

The Foreign Minister of Vietnam gave an overview of recent developments in the South China Sea.

Foreign Minister Kaljurand met in New York with the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian and the Foreign Minister of San Marino, Pasquale Valentini. Topics of discussion at the meetings included bilateral relations and cooperation with the European Union.

In the spring of this year, the European Union and San Marino began Association Agreement negotiations and hopefully negotiations on a new framework agreement with Armenia will begin soon.
