Foreign Ministry Coming Events: 22 – 28 July 2013


22.07 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will participate in a meeting of the European Union foreign ministers in Brussels. The foreign ministers will discuss developments in the EU’s southern neighbourhood, with particular focus on Egypt and Syria, as well as the situations in the Congo, Somalia and Mali. The ministers will also discuss the results of the first year of the European Union human rights package, the EU’s water security-related activities, the status of the Middle East peace process, and the situation in Burma/Myanmar.

22.07 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will participate in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries in Brussels. The Eastern Partnership countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Belarus.

24.07 The first political consultations between the foreign ministries of Estonia and Thailand will take place in Tallinn. The Estonian delegation will be led by Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs Kyllike Sillaste-Elling and the Thai delegation will be led by Undersecretary for Political Affairs Vijavat Isarabhakdi. Topics to be discussed at the consultations are Estonia-Thailand relations as well as developments in each country’s neighbourhood.

25.07 Foreign Minister Urmas Paet will meet with Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja in Kuressaare.

Cultural events taking place abroad:

18 - 21.07 The Ellerhein Girls’ Choir will perform at the 31st International Cantonigrósi Music Festival taking place in Catalonia, Spain.
After the festival programme has ended the choir will head to Andorra, where on 22 July a concert will be given in the church of Andorra’s patron saint Our Lady of Meritxell (Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Meritxell). On 24 July a concert will be given in the great hall of the Madrid Royal Conservatory and on 25 July in the hall of the Burgos New Conservatory. The latter concert will also kick off Estonian Days in Burgos, within the framework of which two exhibits on Estonia will be displayed and tourism and business diplomacy seminars will take place.
